Amalgamation Petition - Requesting Time Extension

Extend council amalgamation timeline to 12 months at minimum

Petition request

That the House of Representatives urge the Government to extend the timeframe for the Head Start pathway from 3 months to a minimum of 12 months, to allow more time for councils to prepare amalgamation proposals.

Petition reason

I consider an extended timeframe will allow time for councils to prepare viable, robust, and cost-effective amalgamation plans, and give better time for affected communities to be more involved, informed, and consulted.
